Healthy Club

Seir Kieran GAA Club has been part of the GAA Irish Life Healthy Club Project since 2019. We received healthy club status in 2021. Our aim is simple to make the GAA Club a healthier place for everyone to enjoy. We were delighted to receive the Silver Award in October 2023


We have adapted the following policies:


Critical Incident Response Plan which establishes clear, appropriate, and safe guidelines outlining what to do in the case of a critical incident.


Substance Use Policy. Seir Kieran is a Smoke Free Club

Delighted to host “Movember Ahead of the Game” a workshop to teach teenage athletes, parents and coaches how to spot signs of Mental Health, what to do and when to get help.

Darkness into Light

On 11th May we ran our annual Pieta House, Darkness into Light Walk.  Thanks to all who turned out and those who helped with refreshments in Club Rooms afterwards. We send a chq to Pieta for €335 from donations that morning.

Held our Eco shop again, kids delighted to drop off pre loved gear and leave with new gear.

Lunch Club

Held our 1st Lunch Club of the year in the Parish Hall, thanks to Offaly Healthy Homes Project.

Eco Shop

Started up our recycle/reuse pre loved sports gear. Was a great success with lots of pre loved gear dropped off. Agreed to hold again in March before 1st underage training

We kick started the year with Ireland lights up Every step counts, 6 weeks of walking around the walking track with lights on so you could do at your own time

Awards Night
We attended the Leinster Healthy Club awards night in Portlaoise and were delighted to come home with the Silver Award, we were presented with a plaque and certificate for the club.


Chair Yoga
Special thanks to Offaly Local Development and Antoinette Larkin for 6 very enjoyable weeks of Chair Yoga held in our club rooms.

Another very successful Lunch Club was run by Offaly Healthy Homes in our parish hall.


August 2023
Cardiac Screening
Our club room was a hive on activity on Saturday 26th August when we ran a very successful Cardiac Screening Clinic. 47 people were screened on the day. Special thanks to “Healthy Hearts Healthy Lives” for running the clinic.

Walk & Talk continued their walk on a Wednesday morning.

Walk & Talk
We started a 6-week walking/activity class where we meet every Wednesday morning at 10am. It usually ended with a cup of tea and a chat. Thanks to Age & Opportunity for the funding.

We had a very successful 2nd Lunch Club run by Offaly Healthy Homes in the Parish Hall

Darkness into Light
On 6th May we ran our annual Pieta House, Darkness into Light Walk, this was very well supported, everyone enjoyed refreshments in the club rooms afterwards.


Lunch Club
We held our 1st Lunch Club in the Parish Hall, this proved to be a huge success with
neighbors and friends enjoying a lovely dinner with entertainment afterwards. This was run by Offaly Healthy Homes Project.

Healthy Cooking Class
We ran a very enjoyable Healthy Cooking Class for 6 weeks in the Parish Hall. Many thanks to the LOETB for the funding

Ireland Lights Up
Ireland lights up and every step counts started on January 12th. Lights were turned on in the field every evening for everyone to use the walking track.
